In recent years, provision of Public Holiday bus services in Greater Manchester has been rather poor. Some operators don't run anyservices at all, while many of those that do run usually operate a skeleton service. Arriva are the exception to this - they tend to run a Sunday service on their routes, something that most operators in neighbouring West Yorkshire do as a matter of course.
Things have been slowly getting better though, and now Stagecoach is significantly improving the situation for bus travelers in their catchment area. From the 21st of March (that's Good Friday, dontchaknow) Stagecoach's public holiday network gets a lot larger with journeys introduced on the following services: 28. 84, 85, 104, 105, 168, 179, 197, 204, 205, 309, 310, 317, 324, 373, 380 and 381. Many of Stagecoach's existing public holiday services have revised times too.
Of course 'Public Holiday' doesn't include services on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day (in most cases) but those of you in Stagecoach country should find getting around a lot easier on any other Bank Holiday from now on.
